Fun this Week #7 - Pom Poms Fun

Tuesday, 27 November 2012

I set out some Pom Poms and invited Little J to play.

He loves throwing the pom poms and seeing them bounce.

He picked up the tong. I was hoping that he would use it to pick up the pom poms but he just dumped the tong aside and continued throwing the pom poms.

I arranged the pom poms on the ice tray and he pushed them into the individual holes.

He picked up the tray, put in some pom poms and swing the tray to see the pom poms flew away.

He turned the tray over and start drumming on it.

I passed him a bottle and he started to put the pom poms into the bottle patiently and with great concentration.

Isn't it colorful?

Fun this Week #6: It's not fun week

Tuesday, 20 November 2012

This week is a not fun week. Both Little J and Me are down with stomach flu.

Little J started getting sick on Thursday. He vomited and had diarrhea. It was so heart-breaking to see him so sick. He was crying with hunger yet we couldn't feed him any food because he will vomit everything out.

Then, I started to get sick on Friday night. My stomach was rumbling away and I thought it could be due to hunger. I grabbed something to eat but vomited everything. I tried to sleep the terrible feeling away but the pain got worse. Throughout the night I was practically sleeping next to the toilet bowl.

Little J was still sick. We were both vomiting away. Daddy J suggested that we should go to the hospital. Doctor said that I was dehydrated and should be admitted for further monitoring. Thinking not to spread the virus around other family members, I admitted myself to the hospital.

I spent my weekend in the hospital with more vomiting and diarrhea. I was also on the drip for dehydration.

After 2 days of stay, I got better though I still feel nauseous whenever I eat anything. My appetite is very bad. Just seeing food will makes my feel like vomiting.

I am glad the whole episode is now over. Little J has recovered and back to his active self. I am also on the road to recovery. Stomach flu is really a terrible experience. It is lucky that Daddy J has not fallen into the hands of the virus.

So this was a not fun week for us. Hope that you had a fun week.

Fun this Week #5 - Trip to the Library

Monday, 12 November 2012

This week is our lazy week. We basically laze around not doing anything particularly special. Of course we did our usual housework, let Little J mess up the house and visited his Grandparents.

The most interesting thing this week is our trip to the Library. I met up a friend of mine and let our boys run wild in the Library. I am glad that there is a baby / toddler section where some level of noise is allowed.

Little J was walking and running around most of the time. These are the few rare moments when he would sit at the table and read.

Fun this Week #4 - The Live Turtle and Tortoise Museum

Tuesday, 6 November 2012

I read about The Live Turtle and Tortoise Museum from My J Babies a few months ago. I didn't know that there is such a place for us to have such close encounter with Turtles and Tortoises. I thought this would be interesting for Little J and we decided to visit the place over the weekend.

The first turtle that greeted us was the Alligator Snapping Turtle. Beware, it can bites like an alligator.

The African Spurred Tortoise is the biggest tortoise that we saw in the park.

Is it trying to escape?
There is a large pond in the middle of the park, where lots of turtles and tortoises are swimming inside. Some are roaming on the grass area around the pond. Visitors can buy vegetables to feed them.

Little J was trying to get real close to the tortoise. He even wanted to use his finger to touch the tortoise's head. You can see that I am holding tightly to his hand. Although tortoises are herbivorous, they can still bite. Ouch!

We walked around the park and saw more turtles and tortoises. Some are free to roam around while most are kept in tanks and enclosures. Some look cute and kind while some look evil and really fierce.

Jayden is 20 months young

Monday, 5 November 2012

Hello our dear little darling,

You are 20 months young today.

As usual, we had lots of fun this month!

You did Cardboard Painting. You understand how Mummy's typical weekend looks like. You came up close with a Dog and a Cat. You had your first try with Play Dough, though you don't really like the feel of it. We went for a Mini-train ride and a fabulous trip to the Zoo

We are hearing more new words coming from you. We are so excited to hear more.

'Ma-Ma-Mi'
Your way of calling Mummy. I love it. Mama Mia!!

'No No No'
Guess you learnt this from us always saying 'No No No' to you.

'Gai-Gai'
You say this whenever you want to go out.

'Wet Wet'
You will point to the wet floor and say 'wet wet'.

'Walk'
You like chanting 'walk walk walk' whenever you are walking. Mummy also has to chant this to get you moving.

''
Your close encounter with the cat opens you to another word. Well done!

'Pain pain'
You had a bad fall and you learnt this new word. You know how it feels to have a bad fall with a big bump.

'Car'
You are obsessed with cars for this month. Always saying car whenever you saw a car.

Other words you said are 'Bird', 'Bed', 'Clock', 'Bag', '来', 'Door'

You learnt to sing a song.
Mummy: Old MacDonald had a farm~
Jay: E-I-E-I-O~

You learnt how to climb the gate. *Gasp* It is dangerous, boy. Be careful.

You are always on the phone talking like an adult. It is so funny to hear you talking in words which we do not understand at all. The tone in which you talk never fails to make us laugh.

You know how to sign wash face, comb hair, brush teeth, pull ears. You also know your body parts now, thanks to us always singing 'Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes' to you.

Lastly, we want to say a big Thank You to you. For coming into our lives and bringing joy and laughter to us.

We love you always.

Lots of love and kisses
Mummy & Daddy

Obstacle Course

We're going to the Zoo Zoo Zoo - Part 2

Thursday, 1 November 2012

Following from Part 1 .

The best part of the trip for Little J is the Rainforest Kidzworld. Here, we saw a Kampung House. I must say such houses are really cooling. The moment we stepped in the house we can feel the difference in temperature. We stayed in the house for a while to cool down. Be warned, this house is full of creepy crawlies.

Mozzies
A giant cockroach
Cabinet with scary worms in it
Oldies TV
Next, we went to visit the farm animals.

This falabella was doing his business as we were taking this photo
Goats lazing around
Little J had a go at feeding the goats. He was all excited about it. Initially, we fed them grass but they did not seem very interested. However when it is their feeding time, which they are fed with carrots and long beans, all the goats came grabbing for the veggies. The way the goats rushed and fought for the food scared Little J a bit and he did not want to feed them anymore. So Hubby finished up the job.

Excited with feeding the goat
Goats not interested with grass
Goats super love veggies. All fighting to eat.
Next up is water play which Little J absolutely loves.

Catching water
Catching water
Giant tub of water raining down
Daddy and son enjoying a slide
Slide + water = Jay's favorite
All good things must come to an end. Little Jay enjoyed the water play so much that he cried when he brought him away to change.

On our way out, we quickly whisked through those animals which we missed earlier.

Tall tall Giraffe
Lion just coming out of it hiding place
Meerkat - 1 looking, 1 hiding
White Rhino
We saw a Peacock roaming around
It was a fun and tiring day for us. Not to mention the weather was really really hot. Little J did not nap during the trip and he KO-ed during our way home.

**********

This was our first trip to the Zoo with Little J. We know how difficult it is to bring a toddler for a long trip. Hence, I would like to share some Zoo survival tips for such trips.

Stroller
The Zoo is stroller friendly, so bring along a stroller or you can rent it there for $9. You never know when the little ones will be tired from walking and want you to carry them. You could just break your hands and back from carrying them. The stroller can also be used to put your belongings, freeing your hands from the heavy weight.

Lots of water
With the hot weather and all the running, keeping your body hydrated is very important. If possible, try to buy bottled water from other places. Bottled water is expensive  at the Zoo.

Food
Sandwiches, biscuits or fruits are good choices. Kids get hungry very fast as they run around.  You can just stop anytime, anywhere for a quick bite. The food at the food court that is quite expensive in my opinion. The other eatery is KFC which is unhealthy food for kids.

Sunblock
You do not want the delicate skin of your little ones or yourself to get sunburned. So apply and re-apply whenever needed.

Light clothings
I need not say too much about this.

Camera
There are official photographers to help you take photos which you may buy from them. However, the photos are expensive. Unless you want to buy it as a remembrance. The photographers can help to take your photo using your own cameras and you can keep them for free.

Umbrella
For the hot sun and rain

Small electric fan / wet towel
These can help to cool yourself and the kids. A quick wipe can help to keep yourself fresh.

Take your time
Do not rush through all the exhibits. Slow down and enjoy the park with your little ones. Allow time for the kids to marvel at the animals. Explain to them. You can always come back anytime. I'm sure they will pester you to bring them there again.
