My ABCs: E is for... Everything in the Mouth

Monday, 17 March 2014

Small J loves to bite anything and everything. Anything that gets to his hands will ends up in his mouth.

A very horrific incident happened one day. Hubby noticed that Small J was biting something in his mouth. He had a plastic fish in his mouth! Hubby quickly dug out the fish and thankfully, Small J was fine. Turned out that it was Big J playing with his fishing game and he had left the fishes lying on the table. Small J managed to grab one of them and stuffed it in his mouth! This reminds us to be always vigilant and not to leave any small parts lying around.

It must be heavy to drag that stroller bar around in the mouth.

How does the hankie look on me?

Winnie tastes yummy!

Lick. This ball is smooth.

How blissful it is to eat while swimming. Nom nom nom...

I think turtle meat taste nice too!

Hey babe, let me try your bib.

Overall, my fingers are still the best!

Mommy thinks you looks best with the bottle in your mouth, holding on to it by yourself.

Small J Eats: Japanese Cucumber Cereal and Peach as Dessert

Friday, 14 March 2014

Last week's meal for Small J was a failure. I planned to prepare Zucchini but bought Japanese Cucumber thinking that they are the same. However, when I googled, they are actually different. But anyway, I still cook and mix it into his cereal.

Japanese Cucumber Cereal and Peach

He also had peach puree as dessert. I'm not sure if the peach was not ripe enough or that it is naturally sour. Look at the way he squirmed his face as he ate. Haha... we had a good laugh.

Big J is 3! 3 Wishes for him

Wednesday, 12 March 2014

My big baby, you are officially 3!

Mommy biggest wish for you is good health. You have been falling sick so often ever since you started going to childcare. In fact, you are sick again on this very special day.

Although Mommy knows that this is your little body trying to build up its own immune system, I still can't help but worry. This is especially so when you have not been eating well and have even lose weight. It doesn't help that you are already quite thin to begin with. Please stay healthy for many many years to come.

It is amazing how much you have grown over the past one year. A year ago, you were our only darling. Now, you have been promoted to a big brother.

Mommy knows how overwhelming this is for you. I'm not sure if it is due to the Terrible Twos syndrome or is it because of Small J coming into your life, your behaviour has changed so much. You become so temperamental, so seeking for attention, so defiant,  so emotional, so difficult to handle.

We tried to give you more attention and more patience, but sometimes couldn't help and vent our frustrations on you. We are really so sorry about this.

So, Mommy's second wish for you is happiness. We want you to grow up happily, not crying whenever things don't go your way. We hope that you will be more patient when you are engaged in doing your things and not always lose your cool. We hope you will leave the Terrible Twos behind and welcome the Terrific Threes.

During the year you have also started going to childcare. We are glad that you do not have have the crying episodes when we first sent you to school. In fact, you love school! Or rather, you see it as going to play. However, you were too overly excited about school that you spend most of the time running around the class, turning on and off the water taps, climbing all over and opening and closing every cabinets. We are glad that you have started to get use to the environment and is able to control yourself and listen to instructions better.

So, for the last wish, I wish that you will continue to love going to school. This year you will be changing to another childcare and I hope you will get use to the new environment quickly and start to enjoy your day there.

We hope you have enjoyed yourself on your birthday. Happy Birthday to you, my dear boy!

My ABCs: C is for... Cheeks

Monday, 3 March 2014

Small J has sprouted his first tooth at 8 months old! I was cleaning his mouth during bath time and felt the tooth. Then I was trying to capture this on camera and it was so difficult to get him to stay still. I spammed the camera and got this which best shows the precious tooth.

As I looked through the rest of the photos, there is one of his fat cheeks.

I love those cheeks. They are so pinchable. Here's more.

Small J Eats: Pumpkin Cereal with VCO

Saturday, 1 March 2014

Small J has started solid food at 6 months old. Now that he is already 8 months old, he has eaten many different food - purees, cereals, porridge, bread, rice and other junk little bits of food which we give for fun.

I have to blame myself for not being that enthusiastic with Small J's meal as compared to during Big J's time. I seldom take photos of his food and sometimes I don't even prepare any solid meals for him. (Note: This is only for weekends. On weekdays, my mum will prepare nutritious porridge for him.)

We are blessed that Small J enjoys his food. He is not choosy, eats quite a big portion and most importantly, he loves the food we prepared. He will always squeaks in delight whenever he sees us carrying the bowl of food towards him.

Today, he had pumpkin cereal with vco, prepared specially by me! Though it is just a very simple meal, I am delighted he enjoys it thoroughly.

Pumpkin Cereal with VCO
1. Steam pumpkin and puree it.
2. Add water to cereal.
3. Add pumpkin puree to cereal and mix till smooth.
4. Drizzle with half a teaspoon of vco and serve. (The vco makes the whole thing more fragrant)
