Weekend Wanderings: Alive Museum (Ceased Operations)

by - Tuesday, August 12, 2014

Just over the National Day weekend, we went to the Alive Museum and had a crazy fun time posing and taking photos. Here are some of my favourite.

Riding in the boat

See me rock this boat!

Don't hit me. I promise to be a good girl.

We spent about about 1.5 hour there. We would have spend a little longer if not for the fact that both boys are cranky and had to rush through some of the exhibits.

Here's sharing some tips to better enjoy the Alive Museum.

1. Avoid Peak Hours
We went in the late morning on Sunday. The crowd was starting to come in. Some of the exhibits are quite cramp and is very difficult to take a nice shot with so many people around. If you need to visit the place on weekends, I would suggest you to go early, like 10am.

Big J trying to climb out of the whirlpool.
See how crowded the place is?

2. Be Patient and Considerate
Due to the crowd, you will need to wait for others to finish taking their photos. Do also look out if you might be blocking other people or getting into their photos. All of us want to enjoy, so no point getting pissed of by others.

No fighting please. Peace out.

3. Relax and Enjoy
Try not to rush through the exhibits. Take your time to think how to pose and take a nice shot. There are indicators on the floor to show you the photo point to get a nice shot. At the side of the exhibits, there are also suggestions of how you can pose. But remember not to hog the place (refer to point 2 above).

Baby J relaxing and enjoying the view from the top. But Mummy is so afraid that he will fall!!

4. Be Imaginative
Before going, you can Google or Instagram to see photos of how others posed. You could be inspired to come up with your unique pose.

Be imaginative. Immerse yourself in the picture, like Small J.
He is crying perhaps he thought the giraffe is really licking him.

Save me Mummy!! The alligator is going to eat me!

The Zombies are coming!

There are many other fun and interactive exhibits which I shall leave you to go explore. If you have been to the Alive museum before, you should go back again. They will be increasing the number of paintings and 30% of the paintings will be changed every 12 to 18 months. On special occasions like Christmas and Chinese New Year, there will be special exhibits specially catered for the festival. There are also paintings that are unique to Singapore, like this.

    1. Ya.. I would say nothing much for a 15 months old and he also won't know how to stay still for photo taking.. My 13 months old is just wandering around.

  3. Looks fun! N your boy's reaction to the giraffe is classic

    1. We were also shocked when he suddenly cried.

  4. Fun photos! Love the one showing Baby J stepping off the balloon house, so realistic and nerve wrecking haha.
